Awareness programme on GST in HP enters ‘India Book of Records’

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) awareness programme organized by the State Taxes and Excise Department simultaneously at 38 locations with the participation of 4,400 stakeholders across the state on Wednesday, has been adjudged as a unique record by the India Book of Records.

The certificate in this regard was presented to Subhasish Panda, Principal Secretary, State Taxes and Excise, by Bhanu Pratap, adjudicator of the India Book of Records at the state Secretariat. Voluntary tax compliance is the lifeline of modern tax administration, he said.

Panda said that the Tax HAAT Program launched by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in January 2022, was one of the latest initiatives in creating mass awareness about GST. He stressed the need for greater awareness about GST provisions.

Commissioner, State Taxes and Excise, Yunus said that today’s event was attended by entrepreneurs, members of trade and industry from across all segments. He said that the event was very well received by trade and industry.

Thanking all for supporting the unique initiative, Yunus emphasized that the feedback collected from the stakeholders during the events will be utilized to fine-tune future awareness programmes.
